SHAPE up

Once I month I receive something in the mail that screams at me, "JESS. WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH YOUR LIFE?!?" This little wake up call is SHAPE magazine. I recently began my torture of subscribing to this magazine about a month or so ago, but SHAPE decided to send me 3 issues back-to-back-to-back. Something like this would usually thrill me, but these magazines just taunt me with what I could be. It shows how "easy" it is to get a flat stomach in 4 weeks... or how you can drop 10 lbs this month... All the things I would love to do but just lack the motivation for. I am a dork and usually when I read shape magazine, I put post-it notes of good workout routines and fun recipes. This "new life style" lasts... oh... a good 24 hours and then it's back to eating whatever. I was just at the pool, "diving" into the May issue and was reading stories about women who didn't have the motivation to change, but now just believe it's time. I can be that women, and I will be. I am here to tell you, blog world, that starting today, June 27th, my life is on track. No, I'll never be a stick figure, and I sincerely don't want to be, but I do want to get back into shape (oh those field hockey days...) Granted, I will never look like Kim Kardashian, Jewel, Lauren Conrad, or the other beauties that grace the cover of the magazine, but I WILL look like who I want to look like. I've heard all my life, "weight is just a number, it's how you feel..." and I completely agree... however, I want my weight to be a number I like. So, you heard it here first. As I change my living location and clean sweep the college years, I will also focus on improving myself, inside and out. Hold on, it's gonna be a bumpy... sweaty ride.

Great Things Happening

So these past fews days have been fabulous. I finally got a new job at Bath and Body Works after being tortured and yelled at on the phone for 8 hours a day at a different job that lasted ummm 3 weeks... The new job is really fun so far-- I mean, who wouldn't have fun selling "lotions and potions" (as my mom says). This new job will be a great opportunity that even if I continue subbing or get a REAL teaching job {gasp!!}, I can still work at the store nights and weekends. As most of you know, I am a workaholic, I love working because I love shopping. Shopping is my drug... some people are addicted to other things, I'm addicted to clothes. Even when I was putting my applications out at the mall, I never came home empty handed. It's a sickness... but I'm working on it. Is there a step program for Shopaholics?

Another great thing happened yesterday-- Leslie and I were approved to move into our apartment in Greenville! I mean, I was pretty sure that we would be approved, but you never know when you have two girls with less than stellar income. I am so excited to move out of Clemson-- as much as I love it here, I am looking forward to exploring a new city. Rather than hearing the question, "HEY!! What year are you??" I'll hear, "Where do you work?" What a nice change, since I am still a little angry at the fact that I graduated.  My next challenge comes with furnishing my new home. Since Berkeley Place (my home for the past three years) was nice enough to supply me with a bed, dresser, etc... that leaves me furniture-less for my new place! So, I am taking ideas of where to find furniture... bring it on. I'm looking forward to the next month or so because Greenville is close enough to Clemson so I can still enjoy a game every now and then, but far enough to start a new chapter here in the South.

What's up Blog World?

So I have been thinking about making a blog for a while now... Not because I have a bunch of great stuff to share with the world, but because I have a lot I just want to get down for myself. I have always been the one to start a journal on the 1st of January... complete a few entries, and then never go back to it. After finding about four journals with five entries each, I decided to buckle down and BLOG! Thanks to Sara Roe and her amazing blog, I have gotten the inspiration to begin this journey. So thanks to all those bloggers out there, I hope that I don't disappoint!
